Kent Science Park in Sittingbourne needed to be repositioned as a great place to live and work. Originally developed in the 1970s as the Shell research and development site, it was struggling to attract new businesses.
We were appointed to reinforce the original commercial heart of the site, which had become fragmented, create a new Sporting Centre for the site, relocate Sittingbourne Football Club with new all-weather football pitches. The scheme also includes a zone of PRS sector housing in a rejuvenated sensitively designed landscape that would be exclusively for workers and affordable community housing.
Working with a raft of consultants we acted as lead masterplanner architect. The project was taken to a detailed planning application level and received favourable support from the CABE/SEEDA design panel and Kent County Council.
