Working with FYR Hotel Developments, with whom we had strong links from the RF Hotel schemes, we developed a new contemporary small town house hotel scheme in central Leeds.
The 21-bed hotel featured fully finished elegant bedrooms and bathrooms around a top lit glazed atrium inner space, where the reception, bar-lounge and breakfast space is situated. Part of an original Georgian terrace, the new hotel took the space of the equivalent of three terraced houses in width and demolished an old concrete warehouse that had been built post war. The building also has a basement housing a restaurant, accessed directly from the street or via the inner hotel lifts, or reception. This project was an exercise in highly efficient site planning principles maximizing usable space and was awarded Best Altered Project award for Conservation.
