Northamptonshire County Council

Changing perceptions of work, respecting occupiers’ wellbeing, the importance of strong leadership with supportive management and encouraging mobility as well as agility were the fundamental challenges of this extensive organisational move.

Relocating over 2,300 staff from many dispersed and entrenched offices, out of small cellular individual offices and making the organisation of Northamptonshire County Council combine as one entity in a single building required extensive consultation, education and consideration.

Working directly with four key members of the client organisation – drawn from HR, property asset management, IT and change management teams – we provided strategic guidance, workplace adjacency structures, team zones strategies, team and personal filing mapping as well as assisting with the ICT implementation. Ultimately, we provided detailed furniture plans for installation and procured all furniture and storage installed in the building. This included the use of an innovative locking system that enables the FM teams to query live usage of lockers and reassign as required.

The project has been shortlisted for several prestigious awards including the BCO awards; and has won a regional RIBA and a regional RICS Award.
