A new administrative hub for the 600 borough staff, bringing them back to the newly created ‘Civic Quarter’ of Ipswich from an out of town business Park. Situated next to the Crown Court, opposite the Suffolk County Council headquarters’ and behind Ipswich Town Football Ground, the building was planned as the first phase of a development to include the County Police headquarters’, establishing a new Civic zone for Public services and employment.
In addition to the building providing much needed regeneration through local employment at street level the building offers two shops and a one-stop services drop in centre and hosts interactive art installations within the façade, showcasing local artists. Winner of the BCO Best Corporate workplace the scheme was applauded by the judges who commented: ‘This is a great example of local authorities working together with landowners and investors to regenerate a declining area.’
