This 900 year old scheduled ancient national monument sits in the South Downs National Park, is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Castle includes a Grade 1 listed Tudor/1920’s Manor House within its walls. Working directly for Andrew Brownsword Hotels we commenced a strategic view of the site and its limitations in use as a luxury hotel.
Working closely with Sussex archaeologists, Listed building officers, English Heritage we successfully achieved listed building consents for conversions of internal spaces, improved bathroom facilities and the creation of new suites. In addition we were granted consent for the conversion of a redundant stable block into a hotel suite with courtyard garden and commenced pre-application discussions for a new spa and glazed extension at the rear of the building within the walls.View case study
